“Tomorrow belongs to those who can hear it coming”
― David Bowie

I rewrote this three times…

I don’t seek much outside insight into the thoughts forming my ideas. I’m a loner, an introverted only child who grew up on a rural dead-end dirt road. I was imaginative, and I read or was read so many mind-exploding fictional books as a child that it led me to publish my own magazine at the age of 16, which further led me to managing a band when I was 19, getting them signed to a Warner Bros Subsidiary and so on. Now instead of interviewing Slayer or Mother Love Bone I’m talking to cannabis pioneers very few are aware of.

As I think about the plant I have no idea what the future holds for me in the cannabis industry, but I do know that, according to Indeed applications, I am not valued at any of the jobs I’ve applied to in the cannabis field.

Sometimes I may be fed up with the industry I love, but I’m not angry or bitter. When I write about a subject, I’m not trying to upset anyone, but I love to talk about reality and despise any affirmation horseshit about the cannabis landscape.

On the other side of the coin, I have engaged with some amazing people who are still thriving where they’ve chosen. I admire that, and so I will continue to feature these kinds of stories. I really just want to inspire people to understand and accept where we are in this industry right now. If you are paying your bills and eating, then congratulations, you are doing something right… and you’re definitely Loco.

12,000 reads in one month on my Substack absolutely floored me. I’m beyond thankful and grateful for that. However, I need to say that most of it is due to my loyal Instagram following that I’ve built over a period of 10 years—not Substack, not that bird site, nor Facecrook. I don’t see staying here much longer…

So, now what? I’m not going to charge people for my words and I don’t want to talk about oxi-clean, I just don’t see it. I do most likely plan on continuing to write for now, but if I’ve learned anything in life it’s nothing is guaranteed. People disappear everyday especially in this industry.

I still feel like your attention span is shot from the past five years… that’s why i chose articles about as long as your favorite songs—three to five minutes, with the occasional Black Sabbath-length (War Pigs?).

My top-read articles in July were

“I’d like to pay you $40,000 yearly to grow $60,000,000 yearly of marijuana,” with just over 1,200 reads.

“Spotlight on Michigan Company Redbud Roots” followed with just over 1,000 reads.

In closing, I didn’t have a clue what to expect these writings to be, I just started writing… I find these short attention span driblets a lot easier to write than I could have imagined because, well, you hard working characters and jokers write them for me.

Again, thank you.
