when did you first smoke cannabis?

I’m thrilled to share this with you. The summer between eighth and ninth grade, a small bag made its way to the beach where my friends and I hung out. Cannabis became more than just a recreational pastime for me; it was a catalyst for unlocking my potential. Smoking regularly had a profound impact on my academic and athletic performance. It was as if a switch had been flipped. The transformation was remarkable, and I owe it to the positive influence of cannabis. During my years, I have faced severe persecution for my choice to embrace cannabis as a part of my life. Looking back now, I am incredibly grateful that I stayed true to my convictions despite the challenges. Cannabis became my medicine, empowering me to embrace my path, even in the face of adversity.

Talk about your progression in cannabis over the years that brought to breeding

My journey in the cannabis industry took me through every aspect of it. I explored the whole industry before I was even 20 years old when I started breeding and building GGG in 2010.

My progression has certainly taken me through every aspect of the industry’s community and culture. When I started, I was a naive teenager with no idea what cannabis had to offer. I realized at an early age that I loved the feeling of being high, and I loved learning everything I could about the plant.

I started selling cannabis right away, and it didn’t take long for me to realize that I could make a living off of it. For years, I would get by alongside the plant. It wasn’t until I began growing and breeding it that I discovered the organic methods I practice today.

When I turned 22, I had an “aha” moment that opened my eyes to the possibilities of meditation and cannabis. Suddenly, I realized that with intention, I could channel my high and experience profound changes from cannabis that I had never experienced before.

I discovered ways to heal and transform my body, which allowed me to shed the majority of the ailments I grew up with. I had been smoking for 7 years before I discovered the true healing benefits. The intentional usage of cannabis led to the healing that my body needed its entire life. I channel this intention into my breeding practice.

Talk about the big cloud event as it’s quickly approaching, the overall size of it this event looks to set a new level of cannabis events in Michigan.

It has been an amazing journey working with Big Cloud Presents. Last year, I was invited to speak at the Mendo in the Mitten event. After falling in love with the energy and people, we combined forces and have produced three Organic Cups together now – in New York, Michigan, and Barcelona – and I am thrilled to be a part of the Big Cloud Presents team.

This year, we are producing LEGACY MICHIGAN, which is happening at the end of this week. The concept for LEGACY MICHIGAN is to recognize the pillars of the industry. Through this event, we were able to invite and gather some of the headiest names in the industry, from John Sinclair to Ed Rosenthal to Danny Danko. This event brings the legends from every corner of the industry together to celebrate the legacy of Michigan and our beloved plant.

We are also bringing out the best in the Glass, Genetics, Hash, Nature, and Activism worlds, which have become pillars of our community. Our company strives to recreate the energy and vitality that cannabis brought to us in the underground to the world at large. Our vision is to bridge the traditional legacy community and legacy heroes into this new world of licensed cannabis.

As always, our goal is to bring to the forefront the fine offerings of our community.

What are your thoughts on the current state of the Michigan cannabis market?

I am not a fan of the current state, but I believe there is hope. There is a huge void of quality products. Just because it is cheap doesn’t mean it’s good. The majority of it is not even close to consumable.

Furthermore, the controlled economy mentality that has eliminated all mom-and-pop competition from entering the marketplace is anti-competitive and stinks of collusion and corruption. These unfortunate factors have kept the most innovative and deserving players from being able to compete at all.

Crony capitalism occurs when business and government officials corroborate in ways that benefit themselves, at the expense of fair competition, public welfare, and the rule of law. In this system, influential individuals / groups leverage their connections to gain preferential treatment, manipulate markets, and suppress competition, leading to distorted economic outcomes aka economic failures and a lack of public confidence and well-being.

What have you been working on genetically of late? 

I’ve been experimenting with a lot of grape and candy gas flavor profiles lately. My passion is to create a better OG, focusing on heavy-hitting yet flavorful smoke that also washes. These are the attributes that seem to be in high demand nowadays. In addition, we are actively searching for the perfect new breeding parents to create our own unique strains. Our selection process ensures that only the best of the best survive, and our team has an infinite library of past creations and nursery mothers and fathers to choose from.

What have you been smoking most recently that intrigued you?

The Sour Diesel/Grape Stomper rosin blends we made from our last batch of fresh frozen are some of the most delicious blends we’ve created yet. I’ve been playing with rosin blends for the past year, creating unique combinations using a minimum of 2 to 5 strains at a time. The flavor profiles are incredibly distinctive, offering a stimulating experience for both the palate and the mind.
